Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach for a deal
worth up to £33.1 million.
The 23-year-old arrived at the club’s training ground
on Friday to undergo a medical and put the final
touches on a four-year deal. Xhaka is expected to

move, as Wenger prepares for the expected
departures of Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and
Wenger’s failure to buy an outfield player in the
transfer window last summer received widespread
criticism from Arsenal fans, and he aims to get the
majority of his transfer business done before the club
travel to the United States for their two pre-season
games in San Jose and Los Angeles at the end of July.
Arsenal remain in discussions with Bolton over the
signing of defender Rob Holding. A bid of £750,000
was rejected by the club recently relegated to League
One, but the player is expected to push for a move if a
follow-up offer is rebuffed.
